When your backyard is literally the Atlantic Ocean, there’s a whole lot to do. And, as you’d expect, much of it’s on the water. Swimming, saltwater fishing, whale watching, kayaking, canoeing, even surfing can all be enjoyed right outside your home. A couple minutes further and you’ve got golf (Harbour Ridge Golf Course), salmon and trout fishing (on the Musquodoboit River) and boating (Petpeswick Yacht Club).

You can also escape to the Martinique Bird Sanctuary, which boasts an incredible variety of species, including the Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, Great Horned Owl and endangered Piping Plover. Bordering lots 20-30, this natural habitat is comprised of small islands and marshlands — all accessible by kayak or canoe.
